Yes: Ok to take occasional pain , but if it repeats regularly you need investigation , of your knee joint for any ligamental or meniscus injury of joint need investigation see your doctor for possible ortho referral for treatment , & prevent injury to joint.

Probably not: Would suggest evaluation to r/o more common running injuries including muscle strains, stress fx's, compartment syndromes, etc.
