Possibly: Women ovulate 2 weeks prior to when the period actually comes. That being said the more infrequent the periods come the less likely the person is ovulating. So a person with 1-2 periods a year likely isn't ovulating . Most women menstruating every 4 weeks are ovulating.

It's possible: To ovulate without having had a normal period beforehand, it's not possible to have a normal period (at least naturally) without having ovulated beforehand. Make sense?
