What are the steps involved in an allergy test?

Allergy skin test: After the allergist reviews the history and performs an exam the skin test process includes: cleansing the area to be tested with alcohol (back or arms), pressing allergy test device (containing drop of allergen) firmly to the skin for 2 seconds, waiting 20 minutes, then measuring the size of the wheal (bump) and flare (surrounding redness). The area is then wiped clean. Answer in 20 minutes!
