May be neuralgia: Trigeminal neuralgia is a severe, sharp, but brief pain in the head or face. It can be spontaneous, and is often compared to the pain of being stabbed with an ice pick or biting on a razor blade. It can be triggered by touching certain places in the distribution of the trigeminal nerve (a sensory nerve supplying the face, the 5th cranial nerve). It is usually not serious, and can be treated.
