BMI & Body Fat %: Bmi stands for body mass index. It's a simple measure of the weight of a person scaled according to their height. Body fat percentage is the weight of a person's fat divided by the person's weight. It lets you see how much of your body is made up of fat, & how much is bone, muscle, blood, and organs. www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/assessing/bmi/adult_bmi/english_bmi_calculator/bmi_calculator.ht.

There is a differenc: A bmi is a calculation of the amount of weight that you carry per your body mass. It is not always a true indicator of obesity, since an athlete, for example, can be very muscular, thus having a large mass, but have little fat percentage. But under the calculations for bmi, the athlete would have a high bmi but not be overweight. For most people, a weight to height ratio works very well.

Different measures: Bmi is fat and lean mass, fat is fat only. The bmi is a calculation which allows comparison across populations.

Body mass: Bmi is a ratio of weight to height. It is a calculating. Body fat is a measurement of the amount of fat in your body, which can only be measured indirectly and not always accurately.
