Depends on situation: Each individual has a set of risks based on age, basic health, nutritional status & access to care. Younger teen mothers have a higher frequency of Down syndrome births than someone in their 20's, they also have a higher risk of blood pressure problems(toxemia).Early and consistent use of prenatal care & monitoring can reduce many of the problems through early recognition.

Very: Pregnant teenagers face different challenges. Medically speaking, they are at higher risk for preterm birth, low birth weight, and increased infant mortality. They also have higher rates of depression and children with delayed cognitive abilities. This doesn't include the huge socioeconomic burden that teenage pregnancy brings to the table.
