Depends: Although most living donors do well and do not suffer long-term complications, some have reported difficulties in purchasing life insurance and health insurance policies (before Affordable Healthcare Act went into effect) as some insurance companies considered them to have chronic kidney disease. In female living kidney donors, there is a mildly increased risk of preeclampsia and gestational HTN.
