Live pre/post: Living donor donations involve a living doner giving one of a paired organ (like a kidney) or a piece of the liver to the recipient. The process involves all the same tissue matching tests as with a deceased donor, but is potientially more readily available thru screening living relatives or friends.

Life: A living donor is alive. They donate some or part of their vital organs, recover from surgery and go home. A deceased donor is dead. They passed away and they decided to donate their organs to people in need. In kidney donation, usually organs from living donors last longer than organs from deceased donors. In any other type of transplant the living donated organ is only a partial organ.
