Still too low dose: The most therapeutic dose of metforim is 1000 mg twice a day with meals, if tolerated. It should be slowly increased to that dose over several weeks. It hasn't had time to be fully effective yet, but may be able to restore normal periods in a few months.

Should not: It should bot cause abnormal bleeding. Sometimes if you are not having periods on your own it may help. But you should speak with your doctor to find out why the spotting is occurring.
