In a way: Gastritis is regarded inflammation of stomach lining. There can be several causes. One cause might be excessive gastric acid. Gerd is reflux of gastric acid up the food tube, the esophagus. Laxity & incompetence of the muscle mechanism that closes off the stomach from the esophagus allows esophageal acid reflux to occur and to irritate that part of the esophagus adjacent to the stomach.

No: Gerd is caused by too many random relaxations of the valve between the stomach and esophagus that usually only relaxes when food is coming down the esophagus. This can be due to foods containing fat, alcohol, citric acid, and caffeine. Some mesications can cause it, or it can happen without apparent cause, maybe due to genetics. Gastritis is inflammation of the stomach.
