Cml: The bad news is that your uncle has leukemia. The good thing is that this type of chronic leukemia is treated and almost can be cured with oral smart pill- a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. There are different kinds of tki available i.e. Gleevec, tasigna, (nilotinib) sprycel, bosulif, ponatinib and more in the pipeline. He should be compliant with his med and he has to take it for the rest of his life.
