Orthopnea: Orthopnea is a need to sleep sitting up or w/head elevated. This suggests pulmonary edema or pleural effusion which can impact sleep quality despite adequate quantity. If you snore, you might also have sleep apnea which also affects sleep quality despite enough hours. Bottom line: go see your family doc for evaluation, diagnosis & treatment.

Very unusual: Your sex and age do not readily help in diagnosis of your condition. In a septagarian your symptoms might be explainable. You should see a primary care doctor, and if he cannot figure it out, then you need to either have a sleep study and/ or see a pulmonary specialist.
