Long time: A long time. 55% ejection fraction is normal.

Overall good: It is impossible to be precise about your individual situation without knowing the details of your medical situation. As a general rule if the heart function is normal ( as with an ejection fraction of 55% it sounds like it probably is) this is a good sign.
