Wt loss is algebra: Calories in minus calories burned. It's that simple. Very little evidence to support the billion dollar diet press. Eat less and exercise more in any combination you choose. It will take a year to lose 100lbs so make sure whatever you do is sustainable. Slow and steady wins this race.

Obesity: I assume that your 280 pounds is not comprised mostly of muscle. In that case, proper nutrition & regular exercise are key to weight loss & maintenance as well as health. Check w/your family doc to make sure your thyroid is ok. Then check w/nutritionist for hidden sources of calories w/o nutrition. And physical therapist to make sure you're active enough. Alli is over-the-counter orlistat.
