See a doctor: Is the pain relieved by rest? If so, you may have a circulatory problem in you legs, a potentially serious problem, that warrants a visit to the doctor. Other things to consider would be muscle cramps related to dehydration or inadequate warm up for the activity.

Charlie horse: Where exactly is this charlie horse? Pain in the shin/calf may be exertional compartment syndrome, but this is quite rare. Pain in the thigh or hamstring, or also in the leg, may be due to stiff/tight muscles. A good stretching program for the affected muscle group would help if that is the issue. And I have had some success with magnesium dietary supplements.
