You need ultrasound: Tho it is very early, you will need an ultrasound within the next few wks to determine the source of the bleeding. Up to 25% of pregnant patients may have some spotting within the first 12 wks of pregnancy and continue on with a healthy pregnancy. But the bleeding should be evaluated. You should be able to see the baby's heart beat by 7 wks after the 1st day of the last period. Good luck !
