Ear hurts: Your ear hurts. Sometimes your hearing may be muffled or feel like it's stuffy. It depends if you mean an outer ear infection like swimmer's ear or middle ear infection like the kind associated with colds and sore throats. Inner ear infections don't hurt but they make you feel like the room's spinning.

Pain fever congested: Middle ear infections usually occur during an upper respiratory infection. Inflammatory fluid or mucous builds and becomes infected. The middle ear does not drain properly through a congested eustachian tube, leading to pressure, pain, fever. Saline nasal drops, humidifiers, elevation of the head, warm compress may promote draining. If not, antibiotics and or steroid nasal sprays may be needed.
