A member asked:

Is birth control less effective the week of your period?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Most birth control methods have 21-24 days of hormones to suppress ovulation & the week that someone is on their period is the time that no hormones are present in the birth control. You do not release eggs during this time. Menstrual blood is a sign that your hormones are dropping and no longer supporting the lining of the uterus. It would be rare for someone to get pregnant during their period.
