Medicine on acid peptic disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rescue vs controller: Acid reflux medications, aka heart burn meds, fall into two main groups: rescue meds that quickly neutralize acid, and controllers that block/reduce acid production in the stomach. Antacids like tums, rolaids and maalox are rescue meds. Zantac, Protonix (pantoprazole) and Prilosec are controllers, among others. Talk to your dr about gerd at your next visit.
