Probably not.: Physical pain may not been an issue from a urological consultation; however, embarrassment and "emotional" pain may exist. Most urologists that practice on pediatric patients understand the fear of pain and the awkwardness of genital exposure; so, these specialists are really rather adept in dealing with these concerns. Certainly, this should not be a reason to refuse consultation if warranted.

Hopefully not!: If your 13-year-old is having an evaluation by a urologist, you would certainly hope that the doctor would be sensitive! imaging procedures, like ultrasound, are commonly done - and are painless and non-invasive. Of course, you can expect that your child will have a physical exam - and that can be awkward for a 13-year-old, but usually not painful. Good luck. Lgromkomd.
