Dr. Alon Seifan answered
Neurology 13 years experience
Depends: Psychosis can be caused by many things. Tfor example, depression can cause psychosis, dementia can do it, and other psychiatric conditions. Treatment should be tailored to the cause of the psychosis. In general, newer generation antipsychotics are preferred, such as quietiapine.
