My 69 year old father has a 2cm tumor in the adrenal gland. is this dangerous?

Possibly: It depends upon whether the "tumor" is benign or malignant. Benign is much more common. Sometimes lab and x-ray tests can give hints as to which one it is. His doctor should be able to schedule the evaluation. The odds favor a benign adenoma, but work-up is necessary to decide.

Adrenal Tumor: Most adrenal tumors tend to be benign adrenal adenomas. Simple noninvasive imaging can help sort it out.

Needs more info: Depends if active or cyst or metastatic. His dr will likely do more blood or imaging testing to better delineate this.

Need labs: He needs to see his doc to make sure the tumor is not producing extra hormones. If non functioning, he just need to follow it with another ct to track changes. There are characteristics on the ct that can clue you in whether or not this could be something significant. Adrenal carcinoma is very very rare. See the doc to eval.

Needs evaluation.: An adrenal tumor merits a careful assessment by a neuroendocrine tumor surgeon. Imaging and blood tests for specific markers should lead to a diagnosis and decision regarding proper treatment.
