Means blockage: Hydronephrosis is a medical term that means enlarged kidney that results from blockage to the urinary stream. It may affect one kidney or both. Most common causes are a kidney stone, prostate enlargement, lazy bladder ( due to diabetes). When it happens it is a medical emergency and patients should seek medical help as this may affect kidney function and sometimes lead to kidney failure.
