Voltaren (diclofenac) Gel: This is very effective with scientific data to back it up. It is pricey without insurance. Compounding pharmacies can make many non-steroidal gels and creams, such as Ketoprofen at a more reasonable cost.

Anti inflammatory: I'm assuming that you are looking for pain relief. This can be done with aspricream, biofreeze, capsacian creams, ben gay and icy hot products. Many compound pharmacies are now doing topical anti inflammatory creams that have diclofenac and Ketoprofen or Ibuprofen in them if you want to avoid medications by mouth. Probably the best choice for muscle pain in ice 20 minutes up to 3 times a day.
