Possibly : Usually cerec crowns are supra gingival (above the gum line). Possibly in the hands of an experienced cerec dentist it could be done. A dental laser could be helpful as well.

Dentist not crown!: The main advantage of a "cerec" crown is that it is fabricated for you in the least amount of time as it is milled directly in the dental office. So that is a terrific advantage if you need\want them in a hurry. Other than that, there are many different types of crowns including other all ceramic crowns that are fabricated by dental lab for the dentist. Criteria should be quality of the dentist.

Yes: Cerec crowns can be used anywhere that a conventional crown can be used.

Yes: A cerec crown is appropriate not matter the margins are below the gum line or not. Just as traditional crowns fabricated in lab, being able to read the margins, regardless of cerec or impression, is needed to fabricate a crown.

Lots of decay? NO!: Cerec is ideal for someone: 1. With a low "decay" rate. 2. Doesn't grind their teeth. 3. Decay is no more than slightly below gum line. 4. Desires single visit care. 5. Is ok with good but not perfect esthetics. I've used cerec since 2002, it is ideal for some patients and horrible for others. If I am in doubt and need an strong all ceramic back tooth w-ok looks I do all zirconium crowns.
