Yep!: They are both antihistamines, with a difference. Benedryl is sedating, has to be taken 3-4 times a day, and may need to be reserved for bedtime dosing. Claritin (loratadine) is a once-a-day, nonsedating antihistamine, and can be taken any time of day. One common technique for using combination antihistamines for severe symptoms would be morning Claritin (loratadine) and bedtime benedryl.
