Yes: Though level is lower, some gel is absorbed into the blood & a cross reaction between alcohol and Metronidazole can occur. 2 theories on this reaction which cause you to vomit, have headache, etc. 1) Disulfiram reaction -an old drug used to block alcohol processing & make alcoholics wish to avoid liquor. 2) possible central serotonin excess triggered causing equally awful side effects. Avoid booze.
