Slow Growth: Low grade lymphomas are also called indolent lymphomas, and they grow slowly. It may take a year for an indolent lymphoma to double in size. In terms of their behavior and molecular attributes, they are characterized more by their resistance to apoptosis (the normal mechanism of cell death) than by increased proliferation. This is one reason why they are hard to eradicate with chemotherapy.
