Rest, talk to his MD: Throwing a ball of any kind can cause soreness in the elbow of that arm. Rest is the main treatment. Talk to his doctor about it. If it is from throwing, then he may need to change how he holds or throws the ball to decrease he pain. (don't throw curve balls until mid-teenage years.) warm soaks or heat packs to the elbow can also speed the healing.
