High WBC & platelets: Mild to moderately elevated blood counts in multiple cell lines (white blood cells and platelets) suggests: (1) possible chronic inflammatory condition, like arthritis, or lupus, etc. (2) a bone marrow disorder, in which case the counts will continue to rise; (3) medications, like steroids; or (4) normal variation. Some people can have transient elevations of one or more blood counts without sympt.
