Depends on severity: There is not a single best way to treat psoriasis. Mild psoriasis is generally treated with topical steroids and vitamin d derivatives. More severe cases are treated with uv light, and systemic medications. Goal of therapy is to keep the disease under acceptable control without causing too many side effects from chronic treatment as we do not have a cure for psoriasis.

Depends how: Extensive the disease is. If psoriasis only affects small areas topical creams can be tried. Most otc topicals dont work as well as prescription agents. Sunlight also can be helpful but one has to be careful secondary to skin cancer. There are many other oral medications such as Methotrexate and soritane can be helpful. Also with severe disease drugs such as Enbrel and Remicade (infliximab) can be dramatic.

No one way! Many!: Depends on type, severity, location, and many other factors. From topical steroids, to steroid intralesional injections, to oral medications, to methotrexate-oral or injected, to the tnf-alpha inhibitors-humira, enbrel, remicade (infliximab). Others-cyclosporine, leflunomide. Your dermatologist will best guide you through these options!
