Is it possible to pass a kidney stone and not notice?

Yes: This may be possible. If the stone was small (5mm) you may be able to pass it without much pain. It may also be possible that if you had an episode of abdominal pain sometime ago that was attributed to something else. The stone then may sit in the urinary bladder and now pass outside.
