What medicines are most effective against pulmonary hypertension?

Several types : There are several types of pulmonary hypertension and to some extent there is a difference in the likelihood of medication success between types. When a clotting problem is related then blood thinners can help. When left heart or congenital heart disease is the cause there are other treatments. For primary pulmonary hypertension there are other classes of drugs. The type suggests the medicine.

PH Treatment : Fda approved treatments include oral endothelin receptor antagonists (eras), ambrisentan and bosentan; oral phosphodiesterase inhibitors, tadalafil and sildenafil; and prostanoids (iloprost, epoprostenol, and treprostinil) that can be delivered via inhalation or by intravenous or subcutaneous infusion. These treatments widen lung blood vessels and ease the symptoms of pulmonary hypertension (ph).
