Yes: Weight gain early in pregnancy is not and should not be the issue so many people want to make it into. As long as you are eating regularly, taking in good quality food in reasonable quantities and taking a multivitamin (prenatal), i would not worry about weight gain. On the other hand, if you are not eating for whatever reason, that needs to change. If it's nausea, seek your ObGyn's help.

Maybe not: Usual weight gain for the first trimester (16 weeks) is 5 pounds. Please talk to your OB doctor about this. Eat as you were instructed. Discuss if the amount of exercise you are getting is so much that you need to eat more. Don't delay! Call your doc's office this week about this.
