Hi is it normal to have a "long" (jugulardidastrict)lymph node enlarged for years? i also have 2 smaller marbelsized ones on the other side. ive had them checked but they all say not to worry. im 19

Well what is normal?: Chronic lymph nodes that are enlarged usually indicate (if in the neck), chronic sinusitis, gingivitis, or other low grade infection. I would have your sinuses x-rayed! and i believe you have been given correct advice!

Not uncommon: There is a rationale for when enlarged lymph (ln) nodes should be evaluated more aggressively. The link below may give you a "feel" for how doctors think algorithmically about this sort of problem. Bottom line: absent specific symptoms, most localized lns less than 3 cm.
