Yes: Liver function tests are often elevated in acute or chronic liver disease, but in advanced liver disease when much of the healthy liver tissue is destroyed, these levels can become misleadingly normal or even low. If you have concerns about liver disease, discuss them with your doctor. There are many lab and radiologic studies that can help identify and characterize liver disease. Good luck!
