Curbing Carbs: The decision to do an "only" type meal plan to lose weight is a personal one, but remember any specialized program is temporary. You can't follow a low carb diet forever, so balancing carbs in your diet is more important. Complex carbs from fruits and veggies are the best source. When you restrict carbs you become ketotic since you burn protein and fats for fuel. Side effects can may occur.

Low glycemic index: The healthiest diet is a diet with a low glycemic index. This means you will avoid simple carbohydrates like processed flour & sugar & foods containing these. Most vegetables, some fruits, proteins are low glycemic index. There are many books, websites, etc. With good info on this.
