May be: There will be some hearing loss in a ear infection, because of the associated swelling of the ear drum. If it persists a few days, it definitely needs to be checked out.

Common: Quite commonly you may have a bit of hearing issues with an infected ear, particularly if there is fluid behind the eardrum. It should resolve within 10-21 days, sometimes sooner.

Yes: Fluid often accumulates in the middle ear space during (and after) an ear infection. This fluid lots the ability of the ear drum to move in response to sound waves and thus hearing is decreased. Normal hearing will return as the fluid in the middle ear space resolves.
