Fertile window: As you say, occurs at the time of ovulation.If there is associated pain on the left or fight side it indicates inflammation of the corresponding oviduct. This is called "mittelschmertz", a german word that means "middle pain". It is frequent in pms and is caused by faulty diet in many cases.
