Many options: There are multiple options. Hormonal treatments such as birth control pills, Progesterone treatments and the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud are effective reversible treatments that will help many people. There is also a drug called Lysteda that contains no hormones which will help others. If you are done having children discuss the option of an endometrial ablation. In some cases a hysterectomy will be needed.

Dysmennorhea: If your periods are too painful and normal pain medicaitons do not help, see a GYN for a consultation and maybe an US to determine whether or not you have masses/fibroids, endometriosis, or adenomyosis. You may benefit from hormonal control using contraceptives like the pill/patch/ring/IUD/implant. Used continuously they can lighten or even stop your periods, thereby decreasing pain.
