I have done the "eggwhite" ovulation test and it seems like i am ovulating . i have done the opk test and its negative. can the opk test be wrong?

Timing: Egg white (clear and stretchy) cervical mucous indicates that estrogen levels are high. High estrogen is common as you are preparing for ovulation. If cycles are regular, 28 days, and cervical mucous appears around day 11-12, you probably will ovulate about day 13-14. Cervical mucous can occur in women that do not ovulate at all, in pcos, or while on estrogen therapy.

Yes: Ovulation predictor kits (opk) that change to a blue color work a little better as do the name brand kits. Its important to follow the instructions and make sure you have concentrated urine. Opks are not always easy to figure out! if you not sure it's best to have intercourse that way you have not missed your chance if the OPK was inaccurate.
