Gerd: See primary care physician to rule out acid reflux or cardiac problem. Gastroenterologist consultation is also an option.

Probably reflux: Sounds non cardiac to me. I would try otc Prilosec to see if this helps. If so, you have you answer; possible gastritis or peptic ulcer. But to be safe, might what to have egd for definitive diagnosis because if ulcer would require bx and longer duration of treatment. Watch coffee and caffinated beverages, choclate etc. All these can antagonize problem.
