Many different cause: There could be many things, from different forms of arthritis to infection to a sprain, strain or fracture. If you have tried Ibuprofen and the pain persists, see your primary care provider.

Depends: If a patient has symmetric hip pain, one must exclude the possibility of this being secondary or inflammatory in nature (arthritis). Other causes such as degenerative arthrosis are common in older patients. Have your doctor take a look, examine range of motion, and other signs of inflammation in other joints. Some blood samples or even x-rays can help clarify the issue.
