Protect what's left: The first thing to do is to protect the cartilage you have. Be careful with the use of anti inflammatory medications (nsaids). Even though they reduce pain long-term use actually softens and damages joints. Then use nutritional supplements like glucosamine and msm. Next try to get help from a physical therapist to learn ways to improve how you use the damaged joint.
