Not deficient: Primary human biotin deficiency is extremely rare. Gut bacteria make it in abundance. Found in cereals, legumes, nuts, mushrooms, cauliflower, dairy. Best sources are liver, egg yolk, soybeans. Raw egg whites have a protein "avidin" that avidlly binds biotin. Food faddists run a risk patients on some longterm anticonvulsant drugs, or long-term total parenteral nutrition (tp are at increased risk.
