2-6 weeks: Most "strains" or muscle tears take 2-6 weeks to go through the first round of healing.There after the muscle needs to be strengthened and warmed up prior to strenuous use. Range of motiopn of the effected joint the muscle moves should be encouraged from the start.

6 weeks: Muscle tears can take 6 weeks to improve. If it is continually agravated can even take longer.
