What is the treatment for hematochromatosis complicated by anemia?

Great question!: That is a difficult situation and a lot of the data is taken from patients with thalassemia who develop iron overload from transfusion. There has been some data on iron binding medications. It also depends on what is causing the anemia. I would suggest you see a hematologist. Hope this helps.

This is a: Tough one. It does put some limits on the strategies to reduce the iron. There are some new options. Get a consult with s hematologist (blood specialist ).
