Depends: There are many types of anemia. Iron deficiency is just one type. It depends on the cause of the anemia.

Depends on the cause: What is the cause of the anemia? This is the most important thing to know. Once you know why you are anemic, the treatment would be directed to the cause. Iron deficiency is not the only thing that causes anemia. Other causes include- deficiency of other vitamins- vit b12, folate; destruction of RBC ( hemolysis), ineffective bone marrow, bleeding, etc. Discuss further with your md.
