Yes.: It depends upon the type of treatment. If treatment was an injection, it would be very common for symptoms to reappear once the injection was more remote. If the treatment was surgical, symptoms may reappear from inflammation or scar tissue at the surgical site. If the symptoms were gone after surgery and recurred, which from your description sounds like the history, the latter is likely.

Yes: It can certainly reappear if the treatment was conservative management including nsaids, splints, steroid injections. If the symptoms continue you may need surgical release for definitive treatment. A complete evaluation by a hand surgeon will also ensure the diagnosis is correct.

Yes: Even with surgical decompression for dequervains the symptoms can return a month or two after. This is usually a result of the bodies natural collagen production (scar) that forms 5-7 weeks post op. Therapy and scar modalities should help. If there was no relief after surgery and symptoms are present it can be from an incomplete decompression or a missed secondary compartment often housing the epb.
