Clarify: If it is the heel bone there are two centers of growth plates the calcaneus and apophysis.

I think he was : Trying to tell you your sox's growth plate is still open and this is why there was pain. This is known as apophysitis, was the pain in the heel? This is a common problem in children. Sometimes, the pain and the limp can be present for months.......
